Yes! The weather forecast is looking hopeful! This means quickly setting up the pool so you can enjoy it all summer long. Be sure not to miss any important steps in setting up your above ground pool though. Useful products that make sure the maintenance of your frame pool becomes a simple routine job, are:
✔ The ground cover: this is a clever way to expand the lifespan of your frame pool. It protects the pool against damage and mould from below.
✔ A foot bath: prevents dirty feet from jumping into the water. A bucket filled with water is a sufficient alternative.
✔ A pool cover or frame pool dome: eliminates the chance of dirt ending up in the pool and covers your frame pool when you’re not swimming. You can do this with a pool cover or a frame pool dome.
In our blog about how to easily set up an EXIT frame pool you’ll find even more information about what things to take into account when setting up your frame pool.
Before jumping into your pool you can use the scoop from the EXIT frame pool starter kit to fish larger dirt from the water. Do you have a pool vacuum cleaner > Perfect! You can use it to easily remove dirt such as sand and pebbles from the bottom and remove green residue from the walls. After use you can rinse the filter part of the pool vacuum cleaner under the tab and then the soil hoover is ready to be used again.
During peak season it’s best to let the filter pump run continuously, except during swimming. Algae love warm and stagnant water. By keeping the water moving as much as possible, you prevent the algae from growing. The filter material in the pump makes sure dirt particles remain in the filter. Replace the filter material in time, otherwise the quality of the filtering will drastically decline. We recommend using filter cartridges, filter sand or filter wadding. The lifespan varies per filter material:
✔ Filter cartridges: replace once a week during peak season. By rinsing the cartridges every day they’ll last longer.
✔ Filter sand: replace every six months. The lifespan of the filter sand is prolonged if you clean the sand through the backwash function of the sand filter pump once a week.
✔ Filter wadding: replace every two to three years. Rinse the wadding every two weeks during peak season (without detergent or fabric softener).
Do you have different filter material? Then check for yourself how often this material needs to be cleaned and/or replaced.
During peak season, it’s important to check the water quality twice a week. You can easily check the swimming water with test strips that measure the total alkalinity, the pH value, and the chlorine value. That way you know exactly what to do to get the right balance between these three values. Would you like to find out more about this? Then read our blog about testing and treating frame pool water.
Nobody wants to have bacteria, mould, or algae in their swimming water. Luckily, there are good remedies against this, like using a saltwater system or chlorine tablets. Make sure to replace the chlorine tablet in the chlorine floater every five days, so there’s always enough detergent in the water. This strongly reduces the chance of bacteria, mould and algae surviving in your frame pool.
EXIT tip: with the EXIT starter kit you have all the frame pool necessities to keep the swimming water free from dirt and to maintain a good water quality. You can order the starter kit here!
Have you also purchased a skimmer to make the maintenance of your frame pool even easier? Good on you! The dirt that is floating on the water is sucked in and ends up in the basket of the skimmer. All you have to do is to check if the basket is full every now and then and empty it.
If you follow these steps, your swimming water will stay clean and fresh day in day out. That way you will enjoy a fresh dive into your EXIT frame pool all summer long!
